The 4.88 Hybrid Firmware is, for all intents and purposes, equivalent to the 4.88 Official Firmware provided by Sony, but it reinstates the necessary vulnerable packages to run the known exploits (therefore, the HEN). The PS3Xploit team have been fast to update their support, with contributions from other members of the scene as well, and the PS3 Hen is now confirmed to work on 4.88, via the installation of a Hybrid Firmware. We reported a few days ago that Sony have released firmware 4.88 for the PS3, which temporarily broke HEN support.
